Why feel rejected?
And the way to make the animated icon not a million MBs is 1. If you do it on Photoshop and then animate it, use minimal shading and special brush tools and gradients etc., and keep it to a minimum of 6 frames. 2. If you do it on MS Paint or use the pencil tool on Photoshop instead of the paint brush tool, that will make your file smaller, thus allowing you to use more frames.
